Local governing board

The Local Governing Body (LGB) plays an active part in supporting the head teacher of the Academy, liaising as appropriate with the Trust's CEO and the Trust Board more generally in relation to the oversight of the Academy.

The governing board

  • Ensure effective use of additional grants.
  • Support and challenge the head teacher.
  • Oversee staff performance management and salary progression.
  • Be transparent and accountable.

Commitment

  • Take responsibilities seriously and reflect on performance.
  • Undertake necessary training and commit time to the role.
  • Act only with whole governing body authority.
  • Share equal responsibility for decisions.
  • Prioritise the welfare of the school and pupils.

Diversity

The governors believe it is important that boards reflect the diversity of the school communities they serve. Diverse boards promote inclusive school environments and provide diverse role models for staff and young people.

The governors are currently considering the information to collect on the diversity of the board and how that will be used to inform their recruitment and training needs and ensure there is always a diverse range of perspectives around the table to support robust decision-making.
